by Terje Brooks

The Yamaha p70 digital piano range is the most affordable of the Yamaha digital pianos. However, in this case, a lower price does not in any way reflect on the amazing quality of these compact and elegant digital pianos. Yamaha have outdone themselves with this musical gem.

The Yamaha P70 offers portability with digital technology, and acoustic piano sound and feel. Read on and see why you couldn't buy better than this Yamaha 88 key digital piano. Perfect for both performing and practicing!

Graded Hammer Standard Keyboard. These digital pianos will have you forgetting the power cord in no time. The 88 keys are all individually weighted just like an acoustic grand piano. Thump a bit harder on the bass keys, and play a little more delicately in the upper treble notes. This 88 key digital piano will not give you any problems with playing between acoustic and digital musical instruments.

AWM samples. The Yamaha p70 is a product of Yamaha's experience with acoustic and digital pianos, as well as electronic musical instruments. This ensures that the p70 has an amazingly realistic acoustic piano sound. This is accomplished by Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) sampling. The expressive characteristics of a Yamaha grand piano are captured and recorded in stereo, known as AWM sampling, to provide accurate sound for every note on the keyboard. These AWM samples contain character and warmth, as well as tone, providing you with the ability to produce the glorious sound of a grand piano.

Variety of sounds. You have a choice of ten instrumental voices including strings, electric piano, organ, grand piano, and harpsichord. These instrumental voices have all been recorded directly from the musical instruments, using the AWM sampling for a more authentic and richer sound. Create moods and texture for any of your musical masterpieces.

Preset song library. The Yamaha p70 comes with 50 prerecorded songs, from beginner to advanced. You can listen to them as is for enjoyment, play one hand or the other along with the song, or accompany the song adding your own individuality. Practice the songs one hand at a time, adding chords and melodies as you please.

Half pedaling capabilities. (Or Half-damping expression.) The Yamaha p70 provides the option of 127 levels of pedal depth for total expression. This is achieved by having the combinations of a sustain pedal and a half-damping pedal to use. Damp down some notes, let other notes be heard loud and clear. The dynamic choices are huge and all yours.

Built in speakers. Lugging around bulky speakers will not be happening with the Yamaha p70. These digital pianos have powerful 6 watt speakers built into the unit making for easy and convenient transportation. MIDI connections and headphones are also available to make this musical instrument as loud or as silent as you want. The MIDI connections are useful in a digital recording environment for adding tracks.

The Yamaha p70 comes in either black or silver (p70s). There is an optional stand for the yamaha keyboard. The Yamaha p70 can easily be set up on a table or bench for portable convenience. These digital pianos combine the very best sound and feel of an acoustic piano with all the fantastic electronic technology that Yamaha is so famous for.

The added benefits of lightweight, portable, elegance, along with affordability, make the p70 digital piano Yamaha the digital piano to beat.
